Abstract

Seven soil samples collected from different localities in Ahmednagar district were screened for AM fungi. Five genera viz: Acaulospora, Gigaspora, Glomus, Scutellospora and Sclerocystis were isolated. The species Acaulospora laevis, Gigaspora margarita, Glomus fasiculatum, G. geosporum, G. hoi, G. mosseae and Scutellospora calospora were isolated from black soils while Acaulospora bireticulata, Gigaspora gigantea, Glomus aggregatum, G. geosporum, G. mosseae, Scutellospora sp. and Sclerocystis sp. from red soils. Glomus geosporum and G. mosseae were found to be common in both black and red soils. The genus Glomus was found to be dominant in all soils samples.
