Abstract
A field experiment was carried out with four levels of nitrogen (0,40,80 and 120 kg N/ha) and four levels of phosphorus (0,30,60 and 90 kg P2O5/ha) on okra cv. Pusa sawani at SKUAST, Srinagar, during summer 1992 and 1993 to study their effect on plant height (cm), number of branches per plant, number pods per plant, pod length (cm), seed number per pod, 1000 seed weight (g) and. total seed yield (q/ha). The total seed yield and all other characters except 1000 seed weight was significantly affected by the appplication of nitrogen and were maximum at 120 kg N/ha. Application of different levels of phosphorus showed significant effect only on pod number per plant and total seed yield over control. However, among different levels of phosphorus, 30 kg P2O5/ha was found superior over control.
