Abstract

Nine treatments consisting of fungal pathogen (Beauveria basiana) neem seed kernel extract (NSKE), neem oil, modern new insecticides, recommended insecticides and untreated check were tested for their efficacy against root borer, Emmalocera depressella Swinhoe of sugarcane. Only imidacloprid (Confidor) was found to be effective The application of bio-rational insecticides also could not provide adequate protection to the crop from root borer. Other management measures like flooding of field, removal of water and late shoots is suggested.
