Abstract
Thiazopyr at 240 g ha−1 applied pre-emergence fb paraquat at 1950 g ha−1 at 60 days after sowing (DAS) being at par with its higher dose (480 g ha−1 fb paraquat at 1950 g ha−1) proved best (We E 80–88%) against Trianthema portulacastrum and Echinochloa colona. Pre-plant incorporation (PPI) of trifluralin at 1000 g ha−1 fb either hoeing at 45 DAS or glyphosate at 3250 g ha−1 at 60 DAS or glufosinate at 500 g ha−1 at 60 DAS being at par with each other next to the aforesaid two best treatments and reduced the dry weight of weeds to the extent of 67–76%. Alone application of glyphosate at 3250 g ha−1 or glufosinate at 500 g ha−1 each at 40 and 60 DAS could not provide satisfactory weed control (30–53%) in cotton. There was no significant difference in the density and dry weight of weeds and seed yield of cotton due to planting method on beds. Dry hoeing at 45 DAS immediately fb thiazopyr at 300 g ha−1 or glyphosate at 6500 g ha−1 (with and without 0.1% surfactant) proved superior to the dry hoeing fb either pendimethalin or trifluralin each at 1000 g ha−1 (45 DAS) or glufosinate at 6500 g ha−1 at 60 DAS in raised bed types.
