Abstract
The 405-mile, 20 and 24-in. Sheep Mountain Pipeline System is transporting carbon dixoide from Colorado and New Mexico to West Texas, helping recover up to 25% of the remaining oil in Permian Basin oil fields. CO/sub 2/ is injected at 110 F and 1700 psi into the pipeline, which has a capacity of from 330-500 MMcfd. This paper describes a sophisticated pipeline monitoring and control system for the line, consisting of 2 control consoles, dual mini-computer master units, and remote terminal units. In addition to removal of the CO/sub 2/, a processing plant will remove H/sub 2/S from the raw gas and recover gas liquids. Facilities will include inlet separation, compression, glycol dehydration, CO/sub 2/ recovery, natural gas liquid recovery, and sulfur recovery.
