Effect of Clopyralid Alone and as Tank Mixture With Isoproturon on Weed Control in Wheat

Abstract

Field expriments were done during winter seasons of 1990–91 and 1991–92 at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, India. Application of isoproturon at 0.75 and 1.0 kg and f1uroxypyr at 0.20 and 0.30 kg/ha done and combination of isoproturon 0.75 kg with 2.4-D at 0.25 or 0.50 kg/ha or with f1uroxypyr 0.10 or 0.20 kg or tribenuron at 5.0 and 7.5 g/ha provided effective control of C. album, F. parvif1ora and V. sativa. The control ranged from 70–90% and 67–93% during 1990 and 1991. respectively. Tribenuron at 7.5 or 10 g/ha failed to provide satisfactory control of weeds. All herbicide treatments gave significantly better crop yield than weedy check. On an average of two seasons, combination of isoproturon+f1uroxypyr 0.75+0.10 and 0.75+0.20 kg/ha and isoproturon+tribenuron at 0.75 kg+5.0 g or 0.75 kg+7.5 g/ha and isoproturon alone at 1.0 kg/ha proved better than other herbicide treatments and thus provided grain yield statistically similar to that of weed free yield.
