Agriculture and water quality: the issues.

Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the issues concerning the impacts of agricultural pollutants on water quality. Among the issues discussed are nutrient pollution; pesticide residues; sedimentation and turbidity; mineral damage; pathogen damage; and on-farm versus off-farm environmental impacts. Options for reducing agricultural pollution are then discussed.
