Abstract
Objective To determine the effects of dietary nucleotides(NT)on serum lipids in hyperlipidemic rats. Methods Sixty healthy male SD rats were divided into 5 groups, which were normal control(NC)group, hyperlipidemic model control(HC)group and 0.04,0.16,0.64 g/kg bw NT groups.NT were orally administered by gavage to rats in NT groups for 45 consecutive days(1 ml/100 g bw per day),and the control rats were given vehicle only. All animals except NC rats were fed with a high fat diet. The levels of serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)were measured. Results The levels of serum total cholesterol(TC)in 0.04,0.16,0.64 g/kg bw NT groups were(3.14±1.45)mmol/L,(3.65±1.58)mmol/L,(3.14±1.70)mmol/L respectively, and the groups of 0.04 and 0.64g/kg bw had significantly lower level than that in HC group〔(4.26±1.96)mmol/L〕;Triglyceride(TG)level in 0.64 g/kg bw NT group〔(0.72±0.38)mmol/L〕 were reduced significantly compared with that in HC group〔(1.29±0.49)mmol/L〕.The LDL-C levels didn't have significant differences among groups. Conclusion Dietary nucleotides have a moderate lipid-lowering effects, indicatrng that it may play a preventive role in hyperlipidemia.
