Choreographies of Identity and Difference

On 11 December 2006, a cross-cultural dance symposium was held at the Centre for Cross-Cultural Research, Australian National University. Convened by Professor Rachel Fensham, from the University of Surrey and the Monash University ARC Project 'Transnational and Cross-cultural Choreographies: The politics of cultural transmission in Australian dance, 1970-2000', the symposium drew together scholars of diverse disciplinary approaches, ages and backgrounds for a day of intense and experimental discussion. The purpose of the seminar was to share models for examining cross-cultural transmission in and through dancing.
