Extreme waiting periods, circuitous process for obtaining shelter and discriminatory responses of private landlords, real estate agents and State Housing Commission workers are problems faced by Aboriginal women, which have affected their physical and mental health. Aboriginal women need suitable and secure housing, refuges followed by transitional housing and governmental support in the area of health, education and housing to help them in their upliftment.
