Abstract

A Simple, rapid, accurate and economical UV Spectro photometric method is developed for determination of tamsulosin in bulk and pharmaceuti cal dosage forms. In methanol, the λmax of the drug was found to be 224 nm. Using UV instrumen t (analytical), in this proposed method tamsulosin follows linearity in the concentration r ange 1 ‐ 5µg/ml with a correlation coefficient of 0.9989. Assay results were in good agreement wit h label claim. The methods were validated statistically and by recovery studies. The relative standard deviation was found to be 0.23516 with excellent precision and accuracy.
