Abstract
Abstract One hundred and seven pregnant women who delivered babies before 38 weeks of gestation were studied. There were 44 patients (41.1%) with premature rupture of the membranes (PROM) while 63 patients (58.9%) not. The preterm delivery were responsible for 58.3% of the perinatal mortality. However, there was no significant correlation between the incidence of PROM and maternal complications. It is also noted that PROM was significantly higher in those women with previous experience of PROM and, furthermore, the higher fetal weight appeared to associate with higher incidence of PROM after 34 weeks of gestation.
