Abstract

In June 2004, as the comprehensive standard for Japan "Landscape Law" was established and In May 2008, Historic City Preservation and Restoration Act was establishment.Under this Act, the government authorizes plans drafted by municipalities to maintain and improve historic scenery, including the unique historic buildings, as well as the traditional way of life of the people in the region.Comprehend of the history as landscape policy in Europe, in walks a little slower, but the signifi cance of landscape as a fundamental law legislation based on the history of the landscape ordinances in local government is great.This paper, is a synopsis of how landscape characteristics and challenges of Japan and held accountable for the meaning of the national landscape.
