Heritage Conservation: Cultural Landscapes and American Landscape Architecture

There is a growing appreciation for historic landscape and cultural landscape conservation in the United States, and the boundary has been widely expended. This trend has provided many research and practice opportunities for landscape architects; meanwhile, A realm of practice known as cultural landscape preservation has been particularly beneficial to landscape architecture, because it has allowed for the interface of historical, social, cultural, environmental, and economic imperatives. In this paper, the author addresses this issue from the perspective of The Evolution of Historic Preservation in America, Ethnographic Landscape Preservation, Vernacular Landscape Preservation, Heritage and Natural Systems in Landscape Preservation, Real World Economics and so on. He also provided some cases from college of Environmental Design, the University of Georgia.
