Abstract
The Copenhagen Metro project in Denmark consists of three phases, owned by different partnerships. Phases 1 and 2 consist of a 21-km light railway system. Bored tunnels driven beneath the city centre will account for 8 km, with 2 km of New Austrian Tunnelling method and cut and cover tunnels. The remaining 11 km will run on elevated tracks or at ground level. Construction of the Frederiksberg Metro Station project is part of Phase 2. The base slab, the platform and outer walls are insitu cast concrete structures. The platform roof is made of precast concrete beams and slabs. Details are given of the geology of the area, the structural layout of the station, the concrete specification, the stability of the structure against uplift, the construction of the station, temporary groundwater lowering, noise and vibration monitoring, and safety issues.
