Abstract

An improved quartz-fibre manometer is described which is bakeable to 520 degrees C and is suitable for measurements in ultrahigh vacuum systems. The cell contains no metallic components, so that pressure measurements in corrosive gaseous media within a range of 10- to some 10-6 torr are practicable. Suspension of the vibrating system within a glass bellows tube permits more satisfactory initiation of the oscillations, and the influence of external disturbances on the system is also reduced.
