The change of cytokine IL-8 in cerebrospinal fluid of patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

Abstract

To research the level of cytokine interleukin 8(IL-8) in cerebrospinal fluid of patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease(CJD) and to investigate the potential influence of inflammatory cytokine on the process of CJD.The investigating group composed of patients with CJD,patients with encephalitis and control subjects.and cytokine IL-8 level in CSF were measured with commercial enzyme immunoassay(ELISA).It was found that the IL-8 level in CSF of CJD patients was significantly higher than that in normal subjects.It is evident that the IL-8 level in CSF of CJD patients was high,suggesting that IL-8 plays important role in the prion disease.
