Abstract
[Objective] To understand the present situation of smoking and smoking control of medical workers in Sanmenxia, and to provide scientific bases for smoking cessation in medical workersand helping smokers to quit smoking.[Meth-ods] Simple random sampling was used in 3 quasi-three-level hospitals, and the medical workers were investigated by ques-tionnaire.[Results] Smoking rates among medical workers was 7.80%, for the males was 28.22% and for females was 0.30%.82.53% of investigated medical workers thought doctors should set smokeless examples for patients. If there was a patient smok-ing nearby, 52.06% of medical workers would advise patients to quit smoking, only 15.05% would suggest patients use nicotine substitution therapy to help quit smoking.[Conclusion] It is necessary for the medical workers to develop training about smoking control knowledge, and medical workers should quit smoking firstly and provide more professional smoking cessation service for patients actively and initiatively.
