Abstract

Faced with an ever expanding population, Florida elected to double track the Tri-Rail commuter line and take cars off I-95 which is already overburdened and perennially under construction. Instituting the final phase of $327 million construction project, Tri-Rail will soon complete double tracking its entire system. This double-track system serves as a great example of how a small, well placed investment can earn a huge return. By transforming itself into the spine of a regional transportation authority, Tri-Rail has become the linchpin that will help keep South Florida moving.
