Abstract
Two hundred forty commercial broiler chicks (1 day old) were randomly divided into 4 equal groups having 3 replicates in each and fed on reference diet consisting 14.6% fish meal (T1) and three test diets consisting, 9.65% Pro pak (T3), 12.6% T.C. Protein (T3) and 9.0% Peru protein (T4) concentrate mixtures along with common ingredients for 6 weeks. All the diets were iso-nitrogenous and iso-caloric. No significance differences were observed in average feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, protein and energy conversion ratio, dressing percentage and cost of production of broilers with different sources of protein. However, the live weight gain on diet T2 was highest. Net profit was higher (P<0,05) for the groups fed diets containing Pro pak (T2), T.C. protein (T3) and Peru protien (T4) than fish meal (T1). But no significant differences were observed among the groups fed on diets T2, T3 and T4. The commercial protein concentrates (Pro pak T.C. Protein and Peru protein) could effectively be used as substitute of Fish meal as the sole source of protein in broiler diet.
