Abstract

A mathematical model has been developed that predicts the fuel plate temperature behavior of the Scottish Universities Research Reactor following a 'scram' shutdown in which the core water is 'dumped' immediately on shutdown. This model predicts the maximum fuel plate temperature variation with time after shutdown from a given set of steady state reactor operating conditions.
