Abstract
Pipeline companies should take every effort to examine the potential ways of saving natural gas at compressor stations. Instead of calculating the cost of gas used in their operations at their purchase price of gas, they should more realistically value the gas at the cost they charge to their customers. The greatest potential for saving natural gas lies in saving part of that used for fuel. Energy-saving potentials exist in several phases of compressor-station operation, including piping systems, operation and maintenance, and the choice of compressor drives.
