Abstract

This note summarizes all the research and work done during the final year project development at Southampton Solent University in Yacht and Power craft Design 2011. \nThe aim of the project is to create a 45 feet luxury modern motor yacht with classic lines, focusing the study on the design and practical aspect to ascertain a correct client demand. \nThe Design features such as a very fast and attractive hull shape, an open deck, a high design speed, a low maintenance cost, a low fuel and electricity consumption, permit to establish the design demanded. Beside this achieved details, this craft has been designed to be used as a chartered day boat or particular owners in the Mediterranean Sea. \nThe current trend is to produce a large interior and exterior into an efficient hull form. A twin engines installation is required to push the boat to a high planning top speed desired by the customer. Even when cruising, the boat will not often operate at the top speed because of the cost and the limited range. \nThe idea is that the hull can cruise normally at a speed of 30 to 40 knots on a large distance. \nThe boat will be designed to be comfortable and very practical and easy to drive for anyone with a boat licence. \nThe Final hull came to a length of 14 meters overall and a beam of 3.875 meters. It has a cruising speed of 35 knots, and a top speed of 50 knots and it supplies accommodation for 6 people.
