Abstract
An account is given of the first of two public transport development plans adopted by the canton of Geneva for the years 1990-1994. Part of a set of measures designed to clean up the air, the plan is known as TC 2000. It is planned that public transport will cover additional territory, provide an improved frequency of services and respond to any additional passenger demands. The 8 measures involved are described including tram line improvement, tram line building, development of an urban bus network, reorganisation of the regional network, conversion to trolley buses, introduction of a night service using taxibuses, an increase in community tariff and the development of Geneva Public Transport. The goals for the second public transport plan are outlined and assessments made of the possibility of massive transfer to public transport. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 854422.
