Abstract
This paper discusses the teaching profession, focusing on analysis of the teacher working conditions, with emphasis on the salary, the sufficiency of the same for the family support, as a policy of valuing the teacher.It is a quantitative research on the teacher's salary in Distrito Federal.This study was developed based on a questionnaire administered to 100 educators.The results show that most teachers in the Brasília does have salaries bigger than R$ 3.000,00 (approx.70% of results), that the teacher's personal income reflects significantly to family income and the salary is proportional to age, what means that the older the teacher is, the higher your salary will be, and that the reverse is also valid.
