Abstract
Incineration will play an increasingly important role in the management of hazadous waste in the United States. Properly designed and operated incineration systems are capable of destroying the hazardous organic compounds of waste streams to 99.99 percent while also offering energy recovery. There are an estimated 850 hazardous waste incinerators in the U.S. today, and the options for alternative thermal destruction methods are expanding.
