Abstract

Abstract This chapter explores briefly the various international mechanisms for the conservation and use of genetic resources and how they have developed. Then it looks more closely at the Treaty (International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture) and explore ways in which its Contracting Parties, acting through the Governing Body of the Treaty, may be able to improve its implementation.
