CAMPAIGN AGAINST TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS WITHIN BUILT-UP AREAS ON THE BASIS OF ACTIVE COOPERATION BY POLICE, ROAD TRAFFIC AUTHORITY AND THE TRAFFIC PATROL AS EXEMPLIFIED BY THE CITY OF OBERHAUSEN

The cooperation as described between the police, the traffic authority and the traffic patrol has an impact in several fields, for instance in the pre-school area in the traffic puppets of the Oberhausen Police, for the primary school pupils in the introduction of yellow caps for school beginners and by fixed or mobile traffic education centres, for older children the employment of traffic wardens, the traffic education of foreign children or cycling tests. In addition to these measures aimed at juveniles, the three organisations conduct educational measures for all citizens, for instance with the campaign more safety for pedestrians, series of lectures in factories and the traffic education of senior citizens. In summary it can be noted that these cooperative activities have contributed to the reduction in the numbers of accidents during the last few years. (TRRL)
