Abstract
In 1984 the school traffic wardens did get legal status by the introduction of the new legislation in traffic legislation. The school traffic warden provides a big contribution to traffic safety by guiding the children on their way to school and in particular by helping these children to cross the road. These school traffic wardens, adults as well as adolescents, can prevent many accidents. In the education and training of these wardens much attention is given to the comprehension of traffic. This handbook is aimed at giving an insight into different aspects when school traffic wardens should be appointed. (TRRL)
