Abstract

TRAFFIC COUNTING SURVEYS WERE EMPLOYED TO DETERMINE TRAFFIC DENSITIES ON NEW JERSEY HIGHWAYS FOR DIFFERENT TIMES OF DAY AND SEASONS OF THE YEAR AND TO ESTABLISH COEFFICIENTS FOR PREDICTING TRAFFIC VOLUME INCREASES. FACTORS HINDERING THE STEADY FLOW OF TRAFFIC ARE ENUMERATED, AND THE IMPLICATIONS FOR HIGHWAY DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION ARE NOTED.
