Abstract

One cost-effective way to improve plant profitability is to convert from analog control equipment to distributed control and computer optimization. A stepwise approach to such conversions will greatly enhance the success of these projects. The steps involved in retrofitting a hydrocracker main fractionator to computer optimization at the Kerr-McGee refinery are presented.
