Abstract
Analysis of the processes occurring at the crystal-melt phase interface showed that a diffusion layer enriched with calcium or lanthanum oxides forms at the crystallization front in the melt, as a result of the kinetic processes occurring in the adsorbed and diffusion layers. A computed diagram of the fusibility of the system CaO-La/sub 2/O/sub 3/-Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/ was constructed based on the model of regular and ideal solutions. Comparison of the fusibility diagrams and the limiting deviations from stoichiometry of CaLaAlO/sub 4/ on the crystallization front of this compound shows that they correspond to the eutectic line bounding its primary crystallization field.
