A SYSTEMS APPROACH TO RURAL ROAD DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

This Paper presents a simple approach based on principles of Systems Engineering towards a systematic development of a rural road network. The aspect of network planning has been covered in detail. A scientific approach, borrowed from Graph Theory has been proposed for preparation of Master Plans for rural roads at the district/block level. Certain essential pre-requisites for successful implementation of the plans thus prepared have also been incorporated. (Author)
