Abstract
Tidal simulations were carried out around a floating/reclaimed structure in a bay. Two-dimensional tidal analysis was developed using the ADI method including the effects of a floating structure. Tidal currents and residual currents are presented graphically for a floating/reclaimed structure in a simplified bay. Mass flux below the floating structure is calculated as a function of the draft of the structure. Secondly, results of tidal simulation around an offshore airport in Japan are presented. These results indicate that a floating structure in a bay may be more advantageous than a reclaimed island and have less impact on the ocean environment.
