Fabrication and Characteristics of Electrochromic Molybdenum Oxide Thin Films

Abstract

The electrochromic properties of molybdenum oxide films have been systematically investigated. The coloration efficiency of 300 nm thick films measured in the wavelength range of 400 to 1100 nm is as relatively high 20 to 30 . For the electrochromic devices using amorphous films of 300 nm thickness, the optical modulation of 30% is obtained with 10 of lithium ion injection in the wavelength range of 400 to 1100 nm. The optical modulation of devices using crystalline films prepared by annealing in air and atmosphere are 40% and 30%, respectively in the wavelength range of 800 to 1100 nm, but the response time of these devices are found to be slow compared to that of the devices using amorphous films.
