Abstract

This paper presents a complete computer program developed by the authors, for the automatic design of highways. This program (phase 1 of the study) concerns the horizontal road alignment and longitudinal profile of the terrain. The vertical alignment, cross sections, occupational areas and earth moving, will be the subject of a second phase of the study. The program presented here has been applied to the first section of the Acqualagna bypass which forms part of the improvements to state road SS 3 Acqualagna-Fossombrone. A list of subprograms is appended. (TRRL)
