Abstract

Different literature sources cited LD50 of Confidor from 30 to 2200 mg/kg m. That necesitated determining LD50 of the products Actara and Confidor in quails reared and fed in our country. Karber’s method was applied for realizing the aim. 14 groups were formed, each comprising 5 male and 5 female 41-day old quails at the same age and live weight. After a 3- day period of adaptation, the chemicals were given only once by tube-feeding directly in the crop of the birds. The quail groups were observed and their behaviour was reported. The time of death was recorded and after that an autopsy was performed. The results showed that LD50 of the product Actara for quails of live weight 199.5 g, applied per os and expressed in mg/kg was 4100 mg/kg m. LD50 of the product Confidor for quails of live weight 199.5 g, applied per os and expressed in mg/kg was 28.7 mg/kg m.
