Abstract
This book describes a methodical investigation of some important factors which influence a household's choice whether or not to own a car and decisions about multi-car ownership. It is based on a simple model - the binomial logit - applied in a consistent way to a considerable amount of high-quality household survey data, and represents an attempt to apply the techniques of cross-sectional analysis. Following an introductory chapter describing the structure of the book and the background to the study, the work is presented in four parts: (1) modelling philosophy and approach; (2) cross-sectional analysis; (3) temporal relationships; and (4) conclusions. (TRRL)
