Abstract
The article discusses traffic control in Houston, Texas, particularly the functions of the Department of Traffic and Transportation. Under the direction of a traffic engineer, the department oversees surveying, planning, street marking, traffic control signs and devices, parking signs, and parking meter maintenance. The traffic engineering approach makes the best possible use of existing street facilities and develops plans for future improvements.
