Abstract

Bybanen: Bergen Light Rail is the official name and registration of the Bergen (Norway) Light Rail system. Currently, it is in its first phase of construction. It is expected to serve 26,000 passengers each weekday once the 9.8 km line between the center of the suburb Nesttun and the Bergen city center is completed. Plans for other extensions and lines are being advanced and public hearings for an initial 3 km system extension have already started. Pending approval, an approximately 50-km citywide network is envisioned. The author examines Bergen Light Rail system accessibility design challenges, specifically universal design overall goal challenges.
