Abstract
This paper discusses the importance and the use of a common reference data structure for a company, in particular as a solution for the needs of Public Transport operators. Special reference is given to Transmodel, a conceptual data model for Public Transport companies, developed within the Drive II EuroBus project. The problems related to the maintenance and to the enhancement of the data model as it now stands are discussed, together with an outline of a solution for the near future. An example of a field trial is given so as to show the use of Transmodel in a real life situation. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 868006.
