Abstract
This article explores different applications of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology for school bus fleets. Potential uses include automatic vehicle location (AVL), automatic vehicle monitoring (AVM) communication links to the Internet, and automatic collision notification (ACN). The author also discusses that despite the limitless benefits of GPS as a fleet management tool, that only few school bus operators have embraced the technology.
