Abstract

This paper outlines current legislation in Argentina concerning accessibility of public transport for disabled travellers, and describes developments in progress. Legislation defined barriers in public transport and ways to avoid these, and set targets for transport operators to provide accessible vehicles. The subway system is not accessible but will be adapted gradually; buses are to be low-floor; railways still present serious barriers to travel for disabled people; and specialized door to door transport exists. Disabled drivers are also considered, with adaptations to cars and a driving training centre.
