Abstract
This paper presents a summary evaluation of an Advanced Public Transportation Systems (APTS) Field Operational Test. The Santa Clara County Smart Paratransit Project was comprised of: 1) a Digital Geographic Database (DGD) which provided a computer-generated map of the OUTREACH service area, and 2) an Automated Trip Scheduling System (ATSS) which processes trips requests. The focus of the evaluation was to determine the efficacy of the Smart Paratransit Project in fulfilling the national objectives of the APTS program and to assess the applicability of the technology to other transit services in the country.
