This article describes techniques used in building the North Texas Tollway Authority's 30-mile toll road north of Houston. It will be financed largely by tolls, so the emphasis is on opening revenue- producing roadways as soon as possible. Among the new fast-track construction techniques is a flying formwork system and cast-in-place components.
