A discussion of operational safety and reliability of LNG facilities covers the behavior of LNG spills on land or on open water; prevention of LNG ignition; codes for methods, materials, design and fabrication, spill containment, relief in closed systems, fire protection, and personnel protection; a system for checking, reviewing, and approving at all phases from design through installation; training programs; startup problems; and emergency training.
