Abstract
A discussion covers the trend to increasing traffic in LNG; the existence of hazards during the three basic operations of loading, transportation, and discharging of LNG at a marine terminal; safety measures for dealing with accidental gas releases; and the possible need for some form of ship operational control in certain ports to achieve the desired level of safety.
