Abstract

This paper provides a timely update on the European Commissions Euro-Regional projects which implemented intelligent transport systems on the Trans European Road Network throughout Europe. The projects ARTS CENTRICO CONNECT CORVETTE SERTI STREETWISE and VIKING focused on improving the monitoring infrastructure establishing a European network of traffic centres to provide operational traffic management and control and improving traveller information services. The paper and presentation provide an update on how the legacy of the Euro-Regional projects is being taken forward by the European Commission and the road operators of Europe within the 2007-2013 timeframe within the EasyWay programme.
