MAKING NATIONAL RAIL WORK FOR LONDON

Opportunities for improvements in the rail network to meet London's growing demand for an improved transport network are discussed. Construction work has begun on the East London Line northern extension to Dalston. When completed, this line will become part of the national rail network. The Strategic Rail Authority (SRA) and Transport for London (TfL) have teamed up to coordinate policies for London with a jointly held London Programme Office. TfL aspires to a single network for all inner-suburban lines in London and a simplification of the overground service pattern with the implementation of metro-style services.
