Modern Japanese prints 1912-1989 : woodblocks and stencils

revival of the woodblock printing tradition stands out as one of the most remarkable aspects of the complex history of Japanese art in the 20th century. This illustrated catalogue contains over 140 of the modern Japanese prints in the British Museum's collection; it was prepared to accompany an exhibition at the Museum. All schools and styles are represented, ranging from work by traditional New artists to Creative modernists, such as Onchi Koshiro. catalogue includes a concise history of the medium since 1912.
